Manuela Zavala

Manuela Zavala died March 16, 2018 at her home in Gilberts, IL.

Born in Mexico on May 5, 1922, she was the child of Salvador Mendez and Soledad Alonso. At the age of thirteen, she married her husband of seventy-three years, Secundino Zavala.  She had her first child at age fourteen and had her last at the age of forty-five. Throughout her life, she provided food, comfort, and time to her family members, giving her love to everyone that she met. She passed away at home at the age of ninety-one, her family beside her. Her life and love have made a lasting mark on her family, and she will live on in their hearts.

 She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and five children.

 She is survived by her nine children, thirty-seven grandchildren, fifty-nine great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

 -Visitation will be held at O’Connor- Leetz Funeral Home, 364 Division Street, Elgin  on Wednesday, March 21 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a prayer service  officiated by Father Eliseria Palencia of St. Joseph Catholic Church at 6:00 pm.

 Nacida en México, ella era hija de Salvador Méndez y Soledad Alonso. A la edad de trece años, se casó con su marido de setenta y tres años, Secundino Zavala. Ella tuvo su primer hijo a los catorce años y su ultimo hijo a los cuarenta y cinco años. A lo largo de su vida, proporcionó comida, consuelo y tiempo a los miembros de su familia, dándole su amor a todos los que conoció. Ella falleció en su casa a la edad de noventa y un años, su familia a su lado. Su vida y amor han dejado una marca duradera en su familia, y ella vivirá en sus corazones.

Le preceden en la muerte sus padres, su esposo y cinco hijos.

Le sobreviven sus nueve hijos, treinta y siete nietos, cincuenta y nueve bisnietos y tres tataranietos.

Visitation will be held at O’Connor- Leetz Funeral Home, 364 Division Street, Elgin  on Wednesday, March 21 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a prayer service  officiated by Father Eliseria Palencia of St. Joseph Catholic Church at 6:00 pm.
